UConn-Florida

When Renee Montgomery came out with 6:24 to go in the second period the crowd seemed to understand the importance of the moment and gave a long standing ovation. Montgomery, the All-American senior guard, would never play in front of this crowd again. It seemed fitting, that in the teams last home game of the year, Montgomery would lead the team with 25 points in their win over the Florida Gators.
Montgomery received plenty of help from her teammates, as fellow All-Americans Maya Moore and Tina Charles both added 22 points. Moore also led the team with 14 boards, and reserve forward Kaili McLaren led the team with six assists.
Florida kept the game close for most of the first half, but the Lady Huskies would pull away to win the game 87 to 59. Florida was hurt by foul trouble early on as star guard Sha Brooks picked up two quick fouls and finish with zero points and three fouls in four minutes of playing time in the first half. Trumae Lucas would also pick up four fouls in the first half.
The Huskies are now 35-0 on the season, and will play the fourth seeded Cal Bears Sunday in Trenton.
